About Kimberly
I hail from a small town in New Jersey where the bright lights of New York City were less than an hour away. Deciding to venture further away than Rutgers for college, I was lured to the University of Delaware by its prestigious Honors Program. During my time at UD I got to be an active member of Army ROTC, continue private flute study through a special Honors program award, participate in geology field camp in Wyoming and Montana, and work during the summers at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Office in Woods Hole, Massachussets and the University of Delaware's College of Marine Studies in Lewes, Delaware. I completed my B.S. in Geophysics and headed onto the Naval Oceanographic Office at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi.
While in Mississippi I met and married my husband, Scott. I also received my MBA from the University of Southern Mississippi. It was during this time that my career interests shifted away from geophysics and to finance. We then moved onto Washington, DC where I completed my M.S. in Finance at the George Washington University and welcomed my daughter, Brooke, into the world.
And then the next chapter in our lives brought us down to the University of Alabama where I gave birth to my son, Luke, and also completed my Ph.D. in finance under the direction of Dr. Len Zumpano. While in Tuscaloosa I also started my TaeKwonDo training at Bailey's TaeKwonDo and discovered my life's true passion. I recently returned to the University of Southern Mississippi as an assistant professor of finance and am continuing my martial arts training at Hattiesburg TaeKwonDo Academy, where I am also a TaeKwonDo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor.
